Director of Human Resources

Skyline Search Partners is partnering with a growing company in the St. Cloud, MN area to hire a Director of Human Resources. This leader will shape the next stage of the company’s HR function, supporting a workforce that includes union field employees and nonunion office staff. This is an opportunity for someone who has helped a smaller organization grow and knows how to bring structure, develop a team, and improve processes while preserving a culture where employees feel valued.

About the Role

You’ll lead an established HR team and assess the people, processes, and technology already in place. Working closely with leadership, you’ll set priorities and implement changes that help the business scale. The role combines strategic direction with hands‑on execution. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, provides clear direction, and follows through while building strong relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the HR team, establishing clear responsibilities, priorities, and accountability.
• Evaluate existing HR practices and create a practical roadmap to support continued growth.
• Partner with leadership to align HR initiatives with business objectives.
• Apply union and collective bargaining agreement experience to support workforce needs.
• Improve onboarding, offboarding, and processes supporting project‑based field employees.
• Strengthen HR technology adoption, reduce manual work, and recommend improvements.
• Establish measurable goals and communicate progress to leadership.
• Help the company introduce scalable practices while maintaining its commitment to employees.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an HR function through meaningful growth in a small or midsize organization.
• Union workforce experience and practical knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
• The ability to move between strategic planning and day‑to‑day execution.
• Experience coaching and developing HR staff.
• A track record of improving processes and putting change into practice.
• Strong communication, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.
• The ability to work onsite, Monday–Friday.
• Experience supporting skilled trades, field crews, construction, or other industrial workforces is especially relevant.
• Experience with HR systems and technology improvements is valuable; familiarity with a specific platform is not required.

Pay range and compensation package

• Location: St. Cloud, MN area — Onsite Monday–Friday
• Base Salary: $120,000–$150,000 + 15% performance incentive
