Industrial Controls and Reliability Technician – Fiber Manufacturing

Department: Claremont Fiber Operations (Prysmian Group)

Reports To: Claremont Fiber Maintenance Manager

Compensation: $28-$38 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: 12-hour, 2-2-3 rotating shift (EOWEO)

Role objective

Ensure maximum reliability, availability, and quality of fiber manufacturing assets through expert electromechanical maintenance, disciplined safety, and precise documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Review and accurately report personal activities daily or as events require.
• Rapidly gain familiarity with Prysmian’s fiber manufacturing processes, equipment, philosophy, procedures, and practices.
• Serve as a Medical First Responder within the Fiber Plant.
• Participate in Prysmian’s pay-for-skill program to broaden and certify competencies.
• Provide timely, high-quality, and cost-effective technical support aligned with near- and long-term operating plans.
• Uphold asset care standards for reliability, availability, output capacity, quality, and internal customer service.
• Support the Maintenance Lead Person and/or Maintenance Manager with correct installation and repair methods for mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Alert the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead Person when additional hand, power, or electronic diagnostic tools are needed.
• Execute preventive maintenance activities as directed by Maintenance supervision.
• Continuously adhere to safe work practices and all company policies.
• Help set and maintain optimal inventory levels of critical spare components.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Plus one of the following, or equivalent experience as determined by the Maintenance Manager:

Education paths

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology
• Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology
• Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology

Military path

• Minimum 2 years of service with training in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Technology

Experience path

• Minimum 3 years of on-the-job industrial maintenance experience in electrical, electronics, or mechanical

Technical capabilities

• Low-to-high voltage electrical work; layout and wiring of complex, high-connection-count circuits.
• Diagnose and correct faulty logic and control circuits; perform installations, repairs, and testing on virtually all production and plant equipment.
• Light-to-heavy mechanical work; general plumbing; general carpentry; floor and tile installation/repair.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools and power tools; volt/ohm/amp meters; oscilloscopes; and other electrical diagnostic instruments.
• Strong mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude; analytical problem-solving ability.
• Self-directed, dependable work style; excellent communication skills.
• SAP experience preferred; fiber manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical demands

• Lift, bend, and stoop as needed; stand for extended periods.
• Extended periods working at a laptop or PC workstation.
• Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and phone communication.

Work environment

• Exposure to dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, and noise.
• Required PPE in manufacturing areas: safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required.
• Infrequent entry to walled containment areas and roof access; may involve uncomfortable hot or cold conditions.
