Ability to learn new technology quickly./ppstrong**MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED**/strong/ppstrongPhlebotomist Position Overview:/strong The Phlebotomist performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, neonates and pediatric patients; works with computer; communicates in a manner that promotes professionalism as well as a comfortable phlebotomy./ppstrongEssential Duties and Responsibilities /strong(including but not limited to the following):/pulliBlood Collection: from adult patients using vacutainer, syringe and butterfly techniques; capillary puncture using heel and fingerstick techniques./liliIdentifies and labels specimens appropriately./liliEnters accessioning data into the computer./liliPrepares specimens for send out testing./liliInventories supplies and prepares phlebotomy stations to effectively collect blood./liliMaintains patient confidentiality./liliPerforms related work as required./li/ulpstrongKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:/strong/pulliKnowledge of laboratory techniques to perform blood collection./liliKnowledge of container and minimum volume requirements for specimen collection./liliSkill in labeling and dispersing specimens to appropriate stations./liliSkill in interacting with patients representing a broad physical and socioeconomic spectrum. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, laboratory staff and medical staff./li/ulpstrongTypical Physical Demands:/strong/pulliRequires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination./liliFrequent standing, walking and bending required for extended periods of time./liliMust be able to support the body weight of an adult patient when moving from a chair to an exam table./liliRequires visual acuity and normal color perception./li/ulpstrongWorking Conditions: /strongExposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment./ppstrongQualifications and Education:/strong/pulliHigh School diploma or GED and on the job training./liliOne year of phlebotomy required./li/ulpstrongCertification/strong: Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program or certification from accredited Medical Assistant program required./ppstrongMedical Assistant Position Overview:/strong The role of a Clinical Medical Assistant is to provide care to patients/significant others via direct and/or telephone contact, following established standards and practices. S/he coordinates with other members of the care team to ensure seamless care delivery, maximal coordination of efforts, and active patient participation in planning and care.
