Position Summary

At Therapeutic Counseling & Consulting (TC&C), we believe that healing begins with meaningful relationships. The Community Liaison serves as the face of TC&C throughout the community by developing authentic partnerships that expand access to high-quality behavioral health services while increasing awareness of our mission of hope, healing, and human connection.

This position is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with referral partners, healthcare organizations, schools, employers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and community leaders throughout Virginia. The Community Liaison plays a vital role in increasing referrals, identifying new partnership opportunities, promoting TC&C’s services, and strengthening the organization’s presence within the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate is personable, professional, self-motivated, and passionate about improving access to behavioral healthcare.

Essential Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Relationship Development

● Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with physicians, hospitals, emergency departments, behavioral health organizations, schools, colleges, universities, social service agencies, nonprofit organizations, military and veteran organizations, employee assistance programs (EAPs), employers, faith-based organizations, and other referral partners.

● Serve as a trusted ambassador of TC&C by representing the organization at networking events, health fairs, conferences, community meetings, chamber events, and other outreach opportunities.

● Identify strategic partnership opportunities that support TC&C’s mission, long-term growth, and community impact.

● Strengthen existing referral relationships while developing new referral sources throughout Virginia.

Business Development

● Execute outreach strategies that increase referrals across counseling, psychiatry, psychological testing, groups, workshops, and future specialty programs.

● Assist leadership in identifying opportunities for employer partnerships, corporate behavioral health services, government contracts, nonprofit collaborations, and community initiatives.

● Monitor referral trends and identify opportunities to improve referral growth and community engagement.

● Maintain an organized outreach calendar and referral database.

Marketing & Education

● Educate referral partners and community stakeholders about TC&C’s services, specialties, providers, insurance participation, and referral process.

● Collaborate with leadership and the marketing team to develop presentations, educational materials, newsletters, and community resources.

● Deliver professional presentations regarding mental health awareness, available services, and community resources.

● Assist in promoting workshops, support groups, CE events, and community education initiatives.

Client & Referral Support

● Respond professionally to referral inquiries from providers, organizations, and community partners.

● Work collaboratively with the administrative team to ensure referred clients are connected with appropriate providers.

● Maintain current knowledge of provider specialties, availability, insurance participation, and service offerings.

● Help remove barriers to care by providing referral guidance and community resource information.

Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities

● Track outreach activities, meetings, referral sources, partnership development, and community engagement efforts.

● Prepare monthly reports summarizing outreach activities, referral growth, partnership opportunities, and return on outreach initiatives.

● Maintain accurate documentation within CRM or outreach tracking systems.

● Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning as requested.

Qualifications

Required

● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Psychology, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

● Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, community outreach, business development, marketing, or relationship management.

● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

● Strong organizational and time management abilities.

● Ability to build professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.

● Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the service area.

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media platforms.

Preferred

● Experience in behavioral health or healthcare.

● Knowledge of mental health services and referral processes.

● Existing community relationships within Central Virginia.

● Experience with public speaking, networking, or business development.

● Familiarity with healthcare marketing, outreach, or provider relations.

 

Working Conditions

● Hybrid position consisting of office, remote, and community-based work.

● Frequent local travel for meetings, networking events, presentations, and outreach activities.

● Occasional evening and weekend events as community needs require.
