RN - MedSurg/Tele About Facility 241 licensed beds Level 3 Trauma Center Non-teaching hospital Certified Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information Beds: 32 Average Census: 28 Minimum Experience Required: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience First-time travelers accepted Patient Types / Common Diagnoses Total joint replacements Colon resection Gallbladder surgery Appendectomy Amputations Medical overflow Hip fractures Small bowel obstruction (SBO) NG tube management Patient Ratios RN: Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6 - surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7-8 LPN (if applicable): Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6 - surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7-8 CNA: 1:10-11 or 1:16 depending on staffing Required Licensure & Certifications RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills Required Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) Wound care Drain and tube management Peripheral IV starts Central line management Support within the Department CNA: Vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, blood sugars Receptionist/HUC: Rounds and secretarial duties Charge nurse: Resource for nursing care assistance Phlebotomy support available (other than nurse draws) IV/VAT Team support Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 Hospitalist coverage 24/7 Intensivist coverage 24/7 Telemetry monitoring/tech support available Technology / Equipment EMR system: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris Medication dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Phillips Floating Floating required within region and scope of practice Floating to all facilities within the region as needed; agreement to float is mandatory Travel time between facilities during floating shifts will be compensated Orientation New Employee Orientation (NEO) 2 days departmental orientation Scheduling Weekend rotation: every other weekend Call: Possible low census call; may be called back until 3 AM for nights and 3 PM for days Holiday expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays Request Time Off (RTO): Up to 6 days off approved excluding holidays; additional time off requires contract extension Shift times: 06:45-19:00 and 18:45-07:00 Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other Notes Scrub color: Navy Parking: Free #J-18808-Ljbffr SoftPath Medical
