Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma facility, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

32-bed Medical/Surgical-Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility

Average daily census of 32 patients

Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases

RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8

12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Possible low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days

Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice

Utilizes Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, patient monitors, and virtual nursing camera technology (VNO)

Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Telemetry monitoring/tech support available

Requirements

Active RN license, NC or Compact, required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required

Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management

Epic EMR experience required

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg-Tele population including cardiac rhythm monitoring and drip management

Work alongside CNAs, charge nurses, and specialty support teams including IV/VAT and phlebotomy

Virtual nursing support (VNO) available for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance

Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to standard NEO onboarding

Expected to work 75% of holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment

Navy scrub color required
