Recipe Philly is a first-of-its-kind restaurant concept: a full-service dining experience based on the principles of Heirloom Hospitality. Our menu is built from real family recipes, surfaced through a citywide competition and accompanying TV series. The food here means something. So does the team behind it.
We’re looking for an experienced Morning Sous Chef to lead production in our kitchen before the doors open. This person sets the tone for the day: organized, standards-driven, and calm under pressure. You’ll work closely with the team to make sure everything coming out of this kitchen reflects the care that went into creating it.
What you’ll do
- Oversee preparation and production of breads, pastries, and desserts across the full day service
- Maintain a sharp eye on presentation and taste quality across the board
- Hold the team to recipe standards and kitchen SOPs without micromanaging
- Train bakers and kitchen staff and follow through on accountability
- Keep your station and the broader kitchen clean, organized, and inspection-ready
- Label, date, and store products safely and correctly every time
- Restock supplies and anticipate what the team needs before they have to ask
- Motivate the people around you to take pride in what they're making and serving
- Jump in alongside prep and line cooks when the team needs an extra set of hands
- 3+ years of experience in a comparable leadership role
- Thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and manages time well under pressure
- Brings creativity to work while staying true to the recipes and standards in front of you
- Familiarity with bakery equipment including mixers, slicing machines, VCR, and small wares
- Solid understanding of weights, measures, and baking technique
- Philadelphia Food Safety certificate (or ability to obtain one)
- Experience with food cost, labor management, and basic P&L awareness
- Comfortable working varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- A collaborative mindset, a steady presence, and genuine investment in the people you lead
- Communicates clearly to the team and with leadership
- Open to feedback and able to apply it
