Director, RDU IT - Business Partner, Global Medical Affairs IT

AstraZeneca

Director-level IT leadership role partnering with Global Medical Affairs in the Rare Disease Unit. Develop technology strategy, drive digital transformation, and guide responsible AI adoption to modernize medical operations and advance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary IT leader and trusted advisor to Global Medical Affairs leadership on technology strategy
Build and maintain Medical IT roadmap aligned with RDU priorities and enterprise IT strategy
Lead delivery of Medical IT projects including process improvements, data integration, and system digitization
Drive evaluation and adoption of innovative technologies including digital health, analytics, and AI solutions
Partner with business and technical teams to translate AI use cases into governed pilots with success measures

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, life sciences, data science, or related field
12+ years technology leadership in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry
Demonstrated experience leading large, complex programs in global, matrixed organizations
Strong business and technology acumen with enterprise platform implementation experience
Working knowledge of Generative AI and Predictive AI with analytics initiative experience
Understanding of responsible AI principles and regulated environment compliance (GxP, GDPR)
Track record building and maintaining productive executive stakeholder relationships
