Diesel Technician

We are offering a $5000.00 Sign on Bonus for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Hodgkins, IL . Relocation Please note as of June 22, 2026 the branch will be relocating to 1540 Chain of Rocks Rd, Village of Pontoon Beach, IL 62025. Relocation Package: Yes. Responsibilities Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop. Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools. Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles. Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies. Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products. Maintain own tools. Qualifications Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls. Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools. Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation. Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite. Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.). Embrace the Cummins values and use them daily. Reliable and a self‑starter with a positive attitude that contributes to the team. Customer focus mentality. Follow and maintain the DOT requirements needed for this position if a CDL is held. Union shop. Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred). Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution. Locally valid driving permit (Preferred). This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products. Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred). Working Conditions Due to the operational nature and specific job duties of this role, work is required to be completed 100% in person/On‑site.
