This role will evaluate business information, credit and financial documentation, and other risk factors to make sound decisions within established guidelines.The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, good judgment, and experience in merchant services, banking, credit, or a related financial environment.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Review merchant applications to evaluate credit, financial, operational, and compliance riskInterpret consumer and business credit reports, corporate registrations, bank statements, financial statements, tax returns, processing statements, and other supporting documentsVerify the accuracy and completeness of information provided on merchant applicationsComplete business verification and additional research using internal tools and third-party resourcesApprove, pend, decline, or escalate applications based on company policiesAssign appropriate merchant risk ratings and document the reasoning behind underwriting decisionsClearly communicate pending requirements and follow up on outstanding informationRespond to questions from agents, sales representatives, merchants, and internal departmentsIdentify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, and emerging risk trendsNavigate multiple systems to review, update, and track application statusesMaintain complete and accurate underwriting notes and documentationPerform additional duties as assignedQualifications:Strong attention to detail and ability to identify missing or inconsistent informationGood analytical, research, and problem-solving skillsAbility to review information objectively and make decisions within established guidelinesAbility to manage a high-volume application queue while meeting accuracy and turnaround expectationsStrong organization and time-management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to clearly communicate application requirements and request additional documentationComfortable reviewing credit reports, bank statements, business records, and other financial documentsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe AcrobatAbility to learn proprietary CRM platforms and third-party underwriting systemsAbility to calculate percentages, processing volumes, average tickets, and other basic underwriting-related figuresEducation And/Or Experience:Previous experience in merchant services, banking, lending, credit, fraud prevention, risk, financial services, or a related field preferredMerchant underwriting experience is helpful but not requiredExperience reviewing applications, financial documents, customer accounts, or business information preferredExperience working in a detail-oriented, production-based, or queue-driven environment preferredExperience using TSYS or other payment-processing systems is a plusSalary:This role includes biannual profit-sharing bonuses as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, retirement planning, and/or other benefits.Base salary range: $50,000 - $60,000Salary including quarterly profit-sharing bonus and comprehensive benefits program range (annualized): $67,725 - $79,725Why Work Here?Awarded Top Workplace of Orange County by the OC RegisterFlex PTO!New state of the art, open-concept facility with stand-up desks, balance boards, stationary bikes and more!Work hard, play hard culture!Monthly Beer Socials and BBQs!Proven "promote from within" mentality!Benefit offerings:Medical, dental, vision, acupuncture and chiropractic401k Safe Harbor; 100% employer match processed semi-monthly, up to 4%Profit Sharing; paid on a biannual basis
