Position Information Position Title: Counselor/Part‑time Faculty Department: Counseling Department Primary Location: N/A Hours per Week: Part‑time faculty members are not to exceed a load of 67%. Work Schedule: Part‑time faculty may work day, evening, or weekend hours, and may work at multiple locations including San Marcos campus and off‑campus locations or distance education courses. Salary: $75.81 - $119.20 per hour (instructional); $74.60 - $117.69 per hour (non‑instructional). Salary and placement information is available via the Part‑time Faculty section. Job Duties The Counseling Department seeks qualified part‑time counselors to teach counseling courses and provide academic, personal, and career counseling services, including developing educational plans and delivering follow‑up services to students. Teaching assignments, assigned separately from counseling assignments, may include any curriculum‑approved courses within Counseling. Counselors may be assigned to work with specific student populations such as Black Student Success, Umoja, Puente, International Students, Dreamer Success, Veterans, etc. Minimum Qualifications A Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling. A Bachelor’s degree in any of the disciplines above AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) pursuant to Title 5, Section 53410.1 of the California Code of Regulations. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in either (1) or (2). Applicants must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form if they do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.
