Job Title: MIG & Fluxcore Welder / Fitter – Job Shop Environment

Job Description

This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG and fluxcore welding and fitting work in a busy job shop environment. You will fabricate equipment and structures from carbon and stainless steel, interpret blueprints and weld symbols, and ensure all welds meet stringent quality standards, including pieces that must pass x-ray inspection. The position requires a reliable, independent professional who can handle round and arched shapes, such as large tanks with outlet pipes and gauges, and deliver airtight, structurally sound welds.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and fluxcore welding on carbon and stainless steel components ranging from 1/8" to 1/2" thickness.

• Fit and weld round objects and arched shapes, including large round tanks with outlet pipes and gauges.

• Use blueprints to accurately fit outlet pipes into outlet holes on tanks and complete precise, airtight welds.

• Fit and weld various gauges to tank openings, ensuring airtight joints for accurate pressure measurement.

• Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to perform layout, fitting, and fabrication tasks.

• Fabricate equipment and structures from blueprints in a job shop environment, ensuring dimensional accuracy.

• Weld in horizontal, vertical, and flat positions while maintaining consistent quality and adherence to specifications.

• Produce welds that meet high quality standards, including pieces that must be able to pass x-ray inspection.

• Work independently to manage assigned tasks and meet production schedules reliably.

• Assist with general shop duties, such as sweeping and basic cleanup, when work is slow to support overall operations.

Essential Skills

• 2–3 years of MIG and fluxcore welding experience with the ability to pass a weld test.

• 2–3 years of fitting experience, structural or circumferential, with proven competence in layout and fit-up.

• Strong ability to read and work from blueprints for fitting and fabrication.

• Proficiency in reading weld symbols to perform accurate layout and fitting.

• Experience welding carbon and stainless steel materials.

• Ability to weld material thicknesses from 1/8" to 1/2".

• Capability to weld in horizontal, vertical, and flat positions.

• Experience producing welds that can pass x-ray inspection.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and reliably adhere to a set work schedule.

• Comfort working in a job shop environment with varied projects and fabrication requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience fitting round objects and arched shapes, such as tanks with outlet pipes and gauges.

• Ability to fabricate equipment and structures directly from blueprints with minimal supervision.

• Attention to detail to ensure airtight welds on pressure-related components.

• Willingness to support general shop maintenance tasks, including sweeping and cleanup when needed.

• Strong work ethic and reliability in a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday.

• Comfort working with loud equipment and in a typical fabrication shop environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small fabrication shop with a traditional weld shop atmosphere: it can be dirty and loud, with typical fabrication equipment and welding operations running throughout the day. You will work first shift, Monday through Friday, from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, where everyone contributes both to fabrication work and to necessary shop upkeep when required. Dress appropriately for a weld shop setting, with practical workwear suitable for a dirty, noisy fabrication environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Verona, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
