Telemetry Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The Telemetry Float Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care in a Telemetry unit, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This role requires flexibility and adaptability as the nurse will float between various medical surgical and telemetry units as needed.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Based on unit needs
• Holiday Requirement: Yes

Unit Information

The unit consists of 32 beds and typically has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1, which may increase to 6:1 during peak boarding times. Nurses will be responsible for reviewing telemetry strips and monitoring patients' vital signs and overall health status.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related field
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred but not required
• License: WA state license or Compact License required

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a telemetry setting.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and telemetry readings.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement patient care strategies.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff as needed.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.

Support Services

The unit is supported by a cross-shift SWAT team for IV assistance, as well as a 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy. Nurse aides are available to provide additional support during each shift.

Additional Information

Nurses will be provided with floor-specific orientation and will be expected to float between medical-surgical, progressive care, and emergency boarding units as required. The use of camera monitoring for patient observation is a key component of the care provided.
