Assistant Store Manager – Four Mountain Sports AspenThe Assistant Store Manager supports daily store operations, drives team performance, and ensures a consistent, high-quality guest experience across Four Mountain Sports retail and rental locations. This role serves as a hands-on leader responsible for developing team members, executing operational priorities, and maintaining service and operational standards. The Assistant Store Manager acts as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring smooth operations, strong team alignment, and a seamless guest experience. This position reports to the Store Manager.The budgeted salary range for this position is $68,000 - $71,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus. Applications for this position will be considered on a rolling basis.Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities:Partner with the Store Manager to lead daily store operations, ensuring alignment on priorities, execution, and team performance while assuming full operational ownership in the Store Manager's absenceLead the sales floor during shifts by directing team focus, managing flow, and adjusting priorities in real time to maximize guest experience and sales opportunitiesModel and reinforce exceptional guest service standards, addressing escalated guest concerns promptly and ensuring professional resolution that maintains brand trustDrive retail and rental performance through effective selling behaviors, cross-selling, and accountability for key performance metrics including sales, conversion, and guest experienceCoach, develop, and provide real-time feedback to associates and supervisors while supporting hiring, onboarding, and training to build a high-performing teamOversee rental operations to ensure proper equipment selection, fitting, safety standards, and alignment with retail functions for a seamless guest experienceEnsure accurate POS operations and cash handling standards, resolving escalated transaction issues and reinforcing accountability across the teamSupport inventory management including receiving, replenishment, transfers, and cycle counts while maintaining visual merchandising, store presentation, and cleanliness standardsAssist with scheduling and labor management to align staffing levels with business demand and ensure effective deployment of team resourcesEnsure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures, including execution of opening and closing responsibilities and store readinessFoster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while supporting company initiatives, promotions, and seasonal prioritiesOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred2–5 years of experience in retail, hospitality, rental, or guest service environments requiredMinimum 1–2 years of previous supervisory or leadership experience requiredDemonstrated experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume retail or rental environment preferredExperience in ski or snowboard retail or rental operations strongly preferredMinimum 1 year of experience with POS systems, cash handling, and operational reporting requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of retail and rental operations, including sales drivers, guest service standards, and team workflowsKnowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic operational reportingStrong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and influence team performanceSkill in making timely, effective operational and guest service decisions in real timeSkill in delivering high-quality guest service and modeling service expectations for the teamSkill in conflict resolution and addressing performance issues in a professional and constructive mannerAbility to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentAbility to build and maintain a positive, accountable, and collaborative team cultureAbility to maintain strong attention to detail in operational execution, store standards, and guest interactionsAbility to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities effectively while supporting team performanceWork Environment and Physical Demands:Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods of time.Ability to lift and carry equipment and merchandise up to 40–50 lbs.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.Flexible schedule required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Job BenefitsThis position is classified as a regular full-time position eligible for the following benefits: Enrollment dates differ across the various programs.Health, Dental and Vision Insurance ProgramsFlexible Spending Account ProgramsLife Insurance ProgramsPaid Time Off ProgramsPaid Leave Programs401(k) Savings PlanEmployee Ski Pass and Dependent Ski PassesOther company perksThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
