Branch Manager

We are seeking an experienced and driven Branch Manager to lead the operations and continued growth of a branch in Washington, DC , for an industry-leading building materials distributor. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing branch performance, developing customer relationships, driving sales growth, and ensuring the efficient delivery of products and services to contractors, builders, dealers, distributors, and other customers across the local market. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of the building materials and construction industries, proven branch or sales leadership experience, and the ability to lead teams while delivering exceptional customer service and commercial results. Main Job Tasks Lead the day-to-day operations of the Washington, DC branch, including sales, customer service, logistics, inventory, and general administration. Develop and execute a branch business plan focused on revenue growth, profitability, market share, and customer retention. Lead, coach, and develop branch employees to achieve operational and commercial objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, dealers, distributors, and other key customers. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the local construction and building materials market. Drive sales activity and support the team in maximising existing accounts and developing new customer relationships. Ensure the timely and accurate processing, fulfilment, and delivery of customer orders. Monitor inventory levels, product availability, purchasing requirements, and stock performance. Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve customer issues promptly and professionally. Monitor branch performance, sales activity, margins, expenses, and profitability. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable industry regulations. Collaborate with regional and corporate teams, including sales, operations, purchasing, finance, and customer service. Monitor local market conditions, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth. Prepare regular reports, forecasts, and performance updates for senior management. Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, industry events, and other relevant activities. Qualifications Proven experience in branch management, sales management, operations management, or a similar leadership role within the building materials, construction products, distribution, or related industry. Strong knowledge of the Washington, DC and surrounding Mid-Atlantic construction and building materials markets. Experience managing and developing teams in a branch, distribution, warehouse, or customer-facing environment. Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth, improve branch performance, and develop long-term customer relationships. Experience working with contractors, builders, dealers, distributors, and other construction-related customers. Strong commercial awareness, organisational skills, and attention to detail. Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Strong leadership skills with a hands‑on and customer‑focused approach. Proficiency with standard business systems and Microsoft Office applications.
