Project Engineer

An established commercial general contractor is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of build-outs, renovations and ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. They specialize in office, medical and retail developments. The ideal candidate is highly organised, proactive, and eager to develop their project management career within a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Support Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial construction projects. Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams. Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project documentation. Track project schedules, procurement activities, and material deliveries. Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and contract administration. Attend project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action logs. Monitor quality control and ensure work complies with project specifications and safety standards. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve construction issues. Assist with project closeout, punch lists, warranties, and turnover documentation. Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline. 2–5 years of experience within commercial construction. Strong understanding of construction processes and project coordination. Experience managing RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documentation. Knowledge of construction contracts and project controls. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar preferred). Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
