Details Acute care hospital setting in a Level IV NICU with 50 beds Patient population includes micro preemies, preemie growers, surgical cases, BPD, NAS, genetic anomalies, and cardiac conditions Patient ratios of 1:1-2 for ICU level and 1:3-4 for NSDU level Primary shift is 7pm-7am with day/night rotation, with a greater need for nights 12-hour varied shifts including weekends and holidays as scheduled Weekend coverage desired and negotiable, approximately 1-2 per schedule Possible holiday coverage for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's if needed No call or standby requirement May float to PICU, Inpatient Pediatrics, and Labor & Delivery units Uses EPIC EMR system RNs titrate drips under MD order, including Dopamine, Dobutamine, Prostins, Insulin, and Sedation Charge nurse and house supervisor support available on unit Nurse aides staffed on unit, 2 per shift Neonatologist in house 24/7 Respiratory therapy equipment available including ventilators, CPAP, and BiPap Monitored beds present; no monitor techs, and RNs are not required to read telemetry strips Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required BLS and NRP certification required ACLS and PALS certification preferred but not required Minimum 2 years of experience in a Level 3 NICU or higher required Skills in neonatal assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and feeding required Ventilator and CPAP care experience preferred EPIC EMR experience preferred Additional Information Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates including micro preemies and surgical patients Candidates with limited vent/CPAP experience may be placed in a stepdown role Unit-specific orientation provided by NICU Clinical Preceptors, tailored to experience level Pewter gray scrub color required Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position Previous permanent employees must wait 2 years before reapplying Previous travelers who completed a full year assignment must wait 2 years before returning Cumulative experience applies toward the 1-year limit for travelers within the WVU system First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required experience qualifications American Traveler Job ID P-747498.
