Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, the VP, Finance serves as a strategic advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, the SVP, and operational leadership team. The VP, Finance provides leadership for financial planning and analysis, decision support, strategic finance, treasury planning, debt management, investment oversight, executive reporting, and enterprise performance management. The role supports long-term financial sustainability through budgeting, forecasting, business planning, pro forma evaluations, service line analytics, capital planning, and strategic decision support.

Position Duties

• Financial Data Analysis
  
  
  Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; identifies, explains, and corrects variances as appropriate. Clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes and keeps executive and senior leadership abreast of Phoenix Children's financial status.
  
  
• Financial Planning & Analysis
  
  
  Leads all financial planning activities, including annual operating and capital budgets, long-range financial plans, rolling forecasts, and strategic financial modeling.
  Develops integrated financial plans that align organizational resources with Phoenix Children's strategic priorities.
  Provides executive leadership with timely analysis of financial performance, emerging trends, operational risks, and strategic opportunities.
  Establishes forecasting methodologies that improve forecast accuracy while identifying key business assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  
  
• Financial Decision Support
  
  
  Oversees decision support, cost accounting, productivity analytics, physician and service line profitability analysis.
  Develops sophisticated financial models supporting centralized business planning for the system including strategic initiatives, physician growth, capital investments, affiliations, partnerships, and acquisitions.
  Develops executive communications, Board materials, financial narratives and strategic messaging that clearly communicate organizational performance and priorities.
  Partners with the CFO, SVP, and executive leaders to prepare Board materials, financial narratives, and presentation content that clearly communicates organizational performance, strategic initiatives, financial risks, and opportunities.
  Translates complex financial and operational information into concise, actionable recommendations for executive and Board decision making.
  
  
• Performance Management
  
  
  Develops enterprise financial dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting that provide actionable insight into organizational performance.
  Establishes key performance indicators and benchmarking methodologies to monitor financial and operational performance against internal goals and external peers.
  Leads monthly and quarterly financial performance reviews with executive leadership, providing recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  
  
• Debt Financing Coordination
  
  
  Coordinates debt financing, capital structure planning, rating agency support, and debt compliance activities. Develops and enhances structures and relationships related to financing, bond activities, debt structures, and overall finance planning and execution to best meet the current and future needs of Phoenix Children`s.
  
  
• Oversight of Outsourced Chief Investment Officer and Financial Advisor Relationships
  
  
  Responsible for managing the OCIO and financial advisor relationships with key oversight of investment holdings. Manages and tracks performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines approved by the Board. Manages all banking relationships, bank accounts, cash balances and ensures timely completion of bank reconciliations for all accounts.
  
  
• Strategic Leadership and Compliance
  
  
  Actively monitors the changing healthcare landscape to anticipate future resource needs of internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with executive leadership to address those needs.
  Develops, mentors, and leads high-performing finance teams while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  Leads finance systems strategy, analytics modernization, automation initiatives, and technology-enabled financial analysis.
  Assures hospital compliance with federal, state, and local government laws and regulations, accrediting agency standards and hospital policies and procedures rules and regulations. Develops, documents, and implements departmental accounting policies, procedures, and standards.
  
  
• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
