Lead Commercial Manager

Overview The Commercial Manager (CM) drives functional and operational Commercial Intensity and Policy 5.0 rigor for assigned deal opportunities. The CM manages quoting, proposal generation, contract negotiation, and ITO-OTR turnover processes for all assigned deal opportunities of the assigned segment and sub-region. The role involves less defined scope work, requiring execution of business objectives, short‑term and long‑term planning, and contribution to overall business strategy. The CM prepares proposals/bids, negotiates contracts, and assesses commercial risk compliance. Responsibilities Work as a key member of the region Inquiry To Order (ITO) team, supporting region commitments, orders, sales, cash, operating profit, and margin targets for the applicable segment. Lead the ITO proposal generation and contract formation process for low to medium complex projects across the segment, developing winning strategies while ensuring compliance with Policy 5.0 risk management and advance release processes. Support the regional Sales team before and during commercial and technical meetings/negotiations with customers. Drive the proposal and contract processes to develop scope, cost, risk, and market/value pricing strategy for assigned deal opportunities, ensuring technical and commercial solutions meet customer and GE requirements. Collaborate with sales, operations, and other functional teams during deal development to incorporate technical risk points, risk mitigation, and business risk acceptance into the opportunity scope, cost, strategy, and proposal/contract language. Prepare and lead the Regional/Deal Team Policy 5.0 review process with the applicable Commercial Director, subject matter experts, approvers, and functional teams. Drive and coordinate ITO process compliance and metrics across assigned deal opportunities, emphasizing Policy 5.0 requirements, proposal and contract completeness, timeliness, quality, and effectiveness of the ITO‑OTR handover. Drive proposal throughput, yield, cost efficiency, and individual productivity; continuously refine ITO processes for speed, waste reduction, and commercial intensity. Participate in regional simplification projects to improve the ITO process. Ensure process adherence to all government contracting requirements with support from GE legal resources. Exercise Commercial Manager deviation and signature authority within the Power Services Policy 5.0 Process and Signature Authority Matrix. Enforce order‑booking requirements and improve OTR turnover process to control contract flow‑down. Reduce cost‑of‑quality issues from inaccurate scope definition, costing, or contract drafting during ITO, and inadequate handovers during ITO‑OTR and advance release. Develop personal commercial and technical skill sets to enable ITO process empowerment, simplification, and speed. ITO Metrics Orders, Sales, Margin%, Operating Profit, and Cash Price enhancement Policy 5.0 Compliance R1 Responsiveness Required Qualifications Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline from an accredited university or college. Minimum 3 years experience within the Power Generation Industry. Desired Characteristics Strong time‑management skills, juggling multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Strategic business mindset with solid understanding of financials and long‑term contracts. Proficiency in financial analysis tools to model scenarios and drive informed deal decisions. Strong business acumen, including the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations. Excellent oral, written, and technical/commercial communication skills, including contract reading and writing. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with deal teams and influence outcomes. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, quickly building trust and credibility. High level of integrity and ethical judgment in all decisions, communications, and actions. Compensation Pay range: $92,800.00 to $154,700.00. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
