Job DetailsJob Location: Lakewood Ranch - Bradenton, FL 34211Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Bachelor's in healthcare management ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Operational Leadership Provide senior leadership and overall performance accountability for Donor Services, Donor Recruitment, the Contact Center, and Concierge @Home Donor Services. Maintain overall accountability for achievement of SunCoast Blood Centers’ blood collection goals and assigned operational objectives. Lead through departmental directors and managers, ensuring they retain responsibility for their teams, workflows, staffing, scheduling, and routine day-to-day operations. Establish operational priorities and performance expectations and hold assigned leaders accountable for execution and results. Ensure assigned departments operate as an integrated collection system, aligning recruitment, appointment generation, staffing, collection capacity, donor engagement, and operational resources with organizational blood needs. Maintain appropriate visibility into field and center operations to understand performance, identify barriers, and support departmental leaders. Serve as the senior operational escalation point for issues requiring cross-department coordination, resource decisions, or executive-level intervention. Collections and Recruitment Strategy Translate organizational collection goals into clear operational and recruitment priorities across assigned departments. Provide senior oversight of blood drive recruitment strategy and ensure sufficient collection opportunities are developed to support current and future blood needs. Ensure successful blood drive accounts are proactively rebooked and developed into recurring partnerships whenever appropriate. Ensure Recruitment maintains a forward-looking 12-month blood drive calendar designed to support collection goals, strengthen account retention, and identify future collection gaps before they become critical. Monitor collection performance, recruitment effectiveness, appointment activity, donor trends, and future collection projections and direct corrective strategies when performance is below expectations. Ensure recruitment strategy is coordinated with staffing capacity, mobile fleet availability, collection locations, and operational resources. Evaluate mobile and fixed-site collection performance and support changes in deployment, scheduling, locations, or resources when needed to improve collection results. Support and strengthen relationships with businesses, schools, colleges and universities, healthcare organizations, community groups, and other blood drive partners. Operational Readiness and Performance Ensure fixed-site and mobile Donor Services operations have the staffing, equipment, supplies, and resources necessary to safely and effectively achieve collection requirements. Hold departmental leadership accountable for appropriate inventory management practices, including First-In, First-Out (FIFO) utilization where applicable, to minimize shortages, expired supplies, waste, and avoidable costs. Ensure Donor Operations equipment is appropriately quality controlled, maintained, and subject to required preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures and applicable requirements. Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities, Information Technology, and other support departments to resolve equipment, supply, technology, fleet, facility, or logistical barriers affecting donor operations. Provide senior oversight of staffing, labor utilization, overtime, productivity, budgets, and operational expenses and require corrective action when performance is outside expectations. Provide senior oversight of Concierge @Home performance and ensure the program remains aligned with priority donor and collection needs. Provide senior oversight of Contact Center performance, including appointment generation, donor engagement, retention, reactivation, and productivity. Partner with Information Technology and Contact Center leadership to evaluate and implement artificial intelligence, automation, and other technology that improves donor engagement, scheduling, communication, and operational efficiency. Leadership and Organizational Planning Develop assigned directors and managers through coaching, performance accountability, professional development, and succession planning. Build leadership depth by ensuring departmental leaders are appropriately empowered, supported, and accountable within their areas of responsibility. Participate in annual planning, budgeting, collection forecasting, workforce planning, and organizational goal development. Maintain operational accountability for compliance with established policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards, partnering with Quality and Compliance as appropriate. Provide the CEO with regular reporting and recommendations regarding collection performance, recruitment pipeline, 12-month blood drive calendar, staffing, productivity, operational readiness, financial performance, risks, and resource needs. Collaborate with SunCoast Blood Centers leadership to resolve cross‑functional barriers and support organizational priorities. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION METRICS Achievement of blood collection goals. Strength and sustainability of the 12-month blood drive recruitment pipeline, including successful account retention and rebooking. Staffing, labor productivity, overtime, and operational efficiency. Mobile and fixed‑site collection performance and resource utilization. Contact Center and Concierge @Home performance in support of collection goals. Equipment and supply readiness, required QC and preventive maintenance, appropriate inventory practices, and reduction of avoidable waste. Financial performance within assigned areas. Development, performance, and accountability of assigned directors and managers. Ability to anticipate operational needs, resolve barriers, and move donor operations toward proactive and sustainable performance. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain an active presence at donor centers, mobile blood drives, recruitment activities, schools, colleges and universities, and community locations as operationally appropriate. Represent SunCoast Blood Centers professionally with donors, blood drive sponsors, community partners, and other external stakeholders. Participate in meetings, training, professional development, and organizational initiatives as required. Perform other duties as assigned to support SunCoast Blood Centers’ success. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use. Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to drive and travel regularly throughout SunCoast Blood Centers’ service area. Ability to move throughout donor centers, mobile collection environments, and community locations to observe and support operations. Environmental Requirements Work is performed in office, donor center, mobile blood drive, school, college/university, and community environments. May require work at multiple locations within the same day and presence at mobile blood drives with variable weather exposure. Potential exposure to blood products and biohazardous materials; adherence to applicable safety and infection control standards is required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and eligibility to drive on behalf of SunCoast Blood Centers. When using a personal vehicle for SunCoast Blood Centers business, must maintain automobile insurance as required by Florida law and SunCoast Blood Centers policy. Must be able to obtain and maintain any background screening, identification, security clearance, or other authorization required for access to schools, colleges, universities, healthcare facilities, or other partner locations. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is essential. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours based on operational needs. Ability to respond during emergency operations, disaster events, critical collection needs, or other operational situations as needed. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in blood banking, blood collection operations, donor services, donor recruitment, or a closely related field. Minimum of three (3) years of senior‑level operational or executive leadership experience with responsibility for directors, managers, or multiple operational functions. Demonstrated experience leading through other leaders and holding multiple operational functions accountable for measurable results. Demonstrated experience overseeing blood collection operations, recruitment strategy, staffing, productivity, and operational performance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of blood banking, donor recruitment, donor services, collection operations, and donor experience principles. Strong understanding of blood drive recruitment, account development and retention, rebooking, and long‑term collection planning. Strong leadership, coaching, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and team development skills. Ability to lead effectively through directors and managers while maintaining clear accountability at each leadership level. Ability to translate organizational goals into actionable operational priorities. Ability to analyze collection, recruitment, staffing, productivity, labor, logistical, and financial data and take appropriate action based on performance. Working knowledge of staffing models, budgeting, mobile operations, fleet utilization, inventory practices, technology, and operational resource planning. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
