Lead Android Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We are looking for advanced proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, MVVM, MVI, Kotlin Coroutines, Compose, Dagger, RxJava, Kotlin, JUnit, Mockito, and Git.
• We value demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting, while setting clear expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We expect a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security standards, along with experience coaching engineers on safe and compliant adoption.
• We require proficiency across the software development life cycle and an advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We need experience designing and implementing Android applications, including building user interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
• We require experience with Kotlin Coroutines for asynchronous programming.
• We expect experience working with remote data through REST and JSON, as well as prior experience with RxJava, LiveData, and RESTful API integration.
• We require experience across mobile UI fundamentals, from layout and animations to unit testing for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and reliability.
• We need understanding of architectural patterns such as MVI and MVVM, as well as application design patterns and Gang of Four patterns.
• Preferred: experience with additional Jetpack components such as Room and Navigation.

• We create inventive software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, and we approach problems in ways that go beyond standard methods.
• We develop secure, high-quality production code, and we review and debug code written by others.
• We drive team adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational results, while promoting secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and reuse of effective patterns.
• We apply knowledge of software development life cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We identify opportunities to remove or automate fixes for recurring issues so we can improve the stability of our software applications and systems.
• We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical expertise, and fit within our systems and information architecture.
