Step into a day running precision on our vertical millsYou start by opening Epicor to organize your queue—pulling the latest setup instructions and blueprints. With tools staged and offsets ready, you load the program for the job at hand (tweaking code or instructions when needed). As parts come off the vertical mill, you deburr, verify dimensions with hand measurement tools, and make smart offsets or program edits to keep every feature within print tolerance. Throughout the day, you handle changeovers, log completed parts in Epicor with dates and job details, perform basic PM on the equipment, and keep your area safe, clean, and 5S-ready. You’re comfortable setting up and operating at least two vertical mills in the department and take pride in the accuracy of every part you produce. Core responsibilities Review work orders; pull setup instructions and prints from Epicor. Load and run programs for the vertical mill; edit programs and setup instructions as required. Set up and competently operate at least two vertical mills in the department. Execute changeovers accurately; manage manual steps with strong attention to detail. Deburr finished parts using a deburring wheel and hand tools when necessary. Measure parts with hand tools; verify conformance to blueprint tolerances. Apply offsets and program edits when parts trend out of tolerance. Scan parts into Epicor; log dates and all required job information. Perform basic preventative maintenance on vertical mills. Maintain a safe, clean workspace and complete 5S tasks. What helps you thrive Collaborative teammate with clear communication. Strong mechanical aptitude and expert blueprint reading. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employees with at least one (1) year at Dorner may apply in lieu of a high school diploma. Performance review criteria: two (2) or fewer “Inconsistent” ratings qualify; three (3) or more “Inconsistent” ratings do not qualify; any “Unsatisfactory” rating does not qualify. No more than one (1) documented written warning in the last 12 months. Ability to navigate CNC controls. Proficiency reading and editing G-code. Ability to safely lift/push/pull 40 lbs. 2+ years of CNC operating experience or a comparable mix of education and experience preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
