Construction Bookkeeper

We are seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy Construction Bookkeeper to manage full-cycle accounting, project job costing, and financial reporting. You will track project expenses, manage AP/AR, process multi-site payroll, and generate Work in Progress (WIP) schedules. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of construction accounting experience and works seamlessly with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities for the Construction Bookkeeper:

• Track and allocate labor, materials, equipment, and permits to specific projects. Compare actual spending against budgets.
• Process vendor/subcontractor invoices, manage progress billings, handle collections, and collect lien waivers.
• Manage full-cycle payroll using time-keeping apps (e.g., Exaktime/Arcoro), tracking multiple jobsites and overtime.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and loans monthly. Manage general ledger, month-end, and year-end close.
• Generate WIP schedules, job profitability metrics, and cash flow forecasts. Partner with project managers to ensure billing accuracy.

Qualifications for the Construction Bookkeeper:

• 3 to 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, strictly within the construction or contracting industry.
• Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and construction platforms (e.g., Sage, Buildertrend, or Arcoro).
• Deep understanding of job cost accounting, progress billings, lien waivers, and local tax compliance.
• High attention to detail, strict deadline management, professional communication, and a highly trustworthy approach to confidential records.
• High school diploma required.
• Business or Accounting degree preferred.

Compensation for the Construction Bookkeeper:

$30-$35 hourly
