In this role, you handle raw materials, set up and monitor automated equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and ensure product quality from start to finish. You work safely and independently, focusing on material handling, visual and dimensional inspections, and accurate documentation while the automated lines perform the majority of the physical work.
Responsibilities- Handle raw materials and prepare them for production by staging, organizing, and loading materials as needed.
- Feed raw wire into automated production lines and ensure continuous operation throughout the manufacturing process.
- Review and interpret specification sheets to correctly set up machines and adjust parameters when required.
- Operate fully automated magnet wire production equipment, including shaping, coating, curing, and spooling processes.
- Monitor the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) touchscreen to track line performance, identify alarms, and ensure the line runs within specified parameters.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of routine machine issues while the line is running and escalate complex problems as needed.
- Pull in-process enamel samples at designated intervals and check them according to quality standards.
- Conduct visual and basic dimensional quality inspections to verify that wire diameter, coating, and overall appearance meet specifications.
- Accurately document all required in-process updates and production data by hand, including quality checks and line adjustments.
- Use an overhead crane to safely move finished spools of wire from the production line to designated staging areas.
- Operate a forklift approximately 15% of the time to move raw materials and finished products within the facility and warehouse.
- Package finished magnet wire products, including wrapping, labeling, and preparing spools for outbound shipment.
- Follow production schedules and work orders, ensuring that each job is completed according to priority and specification.
- Use basic hand tools and measuring devices, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and assist with machine setup.
- Read and, when applicable, reference blueprints or technical drawings to understand product requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following housekeeping and 5S principles to support a safe and efficient environment.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment.
- Work 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule, maintaining focus and attention to detail throughout the shift.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and strong work ethic to meet performance and conversion expectations during the contract period.
- Ability to work safely and effectively without constant supervision.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule, including days or nights as assigned.
- Willingness to be trained on forklift operation; previous forklift experience is not required but openness to training is essential.
- Strong tenure and stability in previous employment, demonstrating commitment and reliability.
- Ability to read, write, and understand written work orders in English.
- General production, manufacturing, or general labor experience in environments such as manufacturing, warehouse, or construction.
- Experience or comfort with machine operation, including starting, stopping, and monitoring automated or semi-automated equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to become mechanically inclined with training.
- Ability to perform quality inspection tasks, including visual checks and basic measurements.
- Experience with or ability to learn material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving products safely.
- Comfort working in a traditional manufacturing environment that can be loud and warm in certain areas.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or construction is highly transferable and preferred.
- Experience as a machine operator, assembly line worker, or general production worker is beneficial.
- Forklift certification or prior forklift experience is a plus but not required, as training is provided.
- Experience with overhead cranes or similar material handling equipment is an advantage.
- Familiarity with quality inspection processes, including basic documentation and recordkeeping.
- Ability to use a tape measure and other basic hand tools for measurement and setup.
- Experience with packaging, packing, and loading products in a production or warehouse setting.
- Exposure to reading blueprints or technical drawings is helpful.
- Strong soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or interest in working with machines and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when following specifications and documenting work.
- Willingness to work in a non-union, growth-oriented manufacturing environment and adapt to new lines and processes as the facility expands.
You join a growing company in a clean, modern manufacturing environment where the industry and facility are both expanding, creating long-term career and financial growth opportunities. Once you convert to full-time employment, you become eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, 11 paid holidays, and paid breaks while on-site. Over time, your pay increases at defined milestones, and you can reach competitive hourly rates within your first year of full-time employment. After six months as a full-time employee, you receive paid vacation days, and you benefit from a structured attendance recognition program that offers rewards for consistent, reliable attendance. The organization provides weekly pay once you are full-time and supports ongoing training, including forklift certification and cross-training on advanced automated equipment, helping you build valuable skills and advance your career.
Work EnvironmentThe facility is a very clean, traditional manufacturing environment that focuses on safety, organization, and efficiency. Automated production lines handle the majority of the physical work, reducing strain on the body and allowing operators to focus on monitoring and quality. Some areas of the plant can be loud and hot, depending on the department and proximity to equipment such as vertical ovens, so hearing protection and other safety measures are used as needed. The site is actively growing, with plans to expand the building, add warehouse space, and install new production lines, creating a dynamic and evolving workplace. Work is performed on 12-hour shifts following a 2/2/3 schedule, with a first shift from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a third shift from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Operators use technologies and equipment such as fully automated magnet wire production lines, HMI touchscreens, overhead cranes, forklifts, hand tools, and measuring devices. The environment reflects a structured, non-union manufacturing culture with clear processes and expectations, where employees are expected to follow safety guidelines and maintain a neat, orderly work area.
