Line Cook/Porter

Golfzon Social Hoyt, located in Brooklyn, NY, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Line Cook/Porter! Golfzon Social is an exciting new Sports Bar and Restaurant anchored by a Golf Lounge with high-tech indoor golf simulators. Compensation: $18-$21 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Full‑time employees qualify for medical, dental benefits, and PTO. PART‑TIME and FULL‑TIME positions are available! Reports to the Director of Food and Beverage and General Manager. Key Responsibilities Line Cook Duties: Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards. Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift. Assist with food prep tasks as needed to ensure kitchen efficiency. Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to meet service demands. Adapt to kitchen needs by taking on additional tasks during slower periods (e.g., restocking, cleaning, or prepping). Utilize whole food products, eliminating any waste. Alert the chef or supervisor of any equipment breakdowns, food overages, or shortages in a timely manner. Follow checklists and daily logs. Requisitions inventory and receive supplies as necessary for daily production. Ensure proper storage of food items, wraps, dates, and rotate food items. Incorporate safe work practices in job performance. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Possess high standards of personal hygiene. Perform other duties as required by the Kitchen Manager. Porter Duties: Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and tools. Wash dishes, cookware, and utensils, ensuring they are ready for use. Remove trash and recycling from the kitchen, bar, dining room, and dispose of it properly. Sweep and mop kitchen floors and dining area, maintaining general cleanliness. Conduct thorough cleaning of restrooms. Assist with organizing and restocking supplies. Always follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines. Stay busy: There is always something to do in the kitchen. Whether it’s cleaning, organizing, or prepping for the next rush, being proactive is essential. No cell phone use during work periods: Focus and professionalism are key to maintaining a productive and efficient kitchen. Phones may only be used during breaks or emergencies. Be punctual and ready to work in a high‑energy, team‑oriented environment. Education/Experience High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands Frequently stand, use hands, talk, listen, taste, and smell. Regularly walk and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds (team lift). Work in cold conditions such as a walk‑in freezer at sub‑zero temperatures. Regularly work in moderate heat (non‑weather) and near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate. Certificates and Licenses NYC Food Handlers Certification Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Basic ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job (e.g., communication with English‑speaking customers or co‑workers, and following equipment manuals). Basic math ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) is required, as associates must weigh/measure ingredients.
