Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Home Warranty Underwriter to join our team. In this role you will evaluate risk, determine coverage eligibility, and price home warranty policies for residential properties. You will analyze home inspection reports, property histories, and building documents to ensure our warranties are profitable, compliant, and balanced. The ideal candidate possesses strong critical thinking skills, an understanding of residential building systems, and a background in insurance or warranty risk assessment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reviews builder and home warranty applications
\n
• Collect documents and review for compliance with our underwriting guidelines.
\n
• Answer questions from builders, title companies, and sales representatives .
\n
• Assist clients and sales representatives with the application process.
\n
• Recommends and implements changes to underwriting policies and procedures.
\n
• Reviews builder’s claims history, property value, and other factors to assess risk.
\n
• Makes recommendations based on underwriting guidelines based on risk including recommendations to increase rates or deny warranties when necessary.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
\n

Required Skills/Abilities:

\n
• Analytical thinking and the ability to interpret inspection data, reports, and building documents with the ability to spot underlying risk and make sound data driven decisions.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills to explain underwriting decisions to clients and other non-technical personal
\n
• Understanding of laws, guidelines, and best practices of insurance.
\n
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
\n

Education and Experience:

\n
• Bachelors degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or related field required.
\n
• Three to five years of related experience required.
