Diagnostics Solutions Consultant

Locations considered: Massachusetts (excluding Boston) & Rhode Island Role Description The Diagnostics Solutions Consultant (DSC) is a field-based, customer‑facing member of our sales team. The DSC is accountable for selling Zoetis diagnostic instruments, tests and associated products and services within an assigned U.S. sales territory, building and maintaining customer relationships, and achieving budgeted sales quotas. The DSC will update and maintain sales funnel and customer profile data, collaborate with other Zoetis colleagues, and support the diagnostics business. Anticipated travel within assigned territory: up to 60‑70%. Position Responsibilities Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of diagnostic products and services. Travel to existing and prospective customer offices; target 3‑4 existing customers and 3‑4 new opportunities per day; extensive driving and periodic overnight travel (4‑8 nights per month). Document all customer and prospect interactions via the online system. Transport equipment to customer and prospective locations. Lift, set up, and demonstrate diagnostic solutions, equipment, and features. Explain the uses and benefits of diagnostic products and services; effectively communicate the value proposition. Secure purchase orders for diagnostic products and services. Provide ongoing customer support (in person, phone, email); make periodic courtesy calls; update clients on new products and services. Interface with sales, accounting, and technical staff to address customer questions and needs in a timely manner. Work cooperatively with Diagnostic Technical Specialists to ensure strong customer service and utilization. Generate new business and leads, including placing instruments in competitor accounts and academic/research settings; gather referrals from existing customers. Support billing and collection efforts. Safely lift and move up to 60 lbs. Education and Experience Minimum 4 years of demonstrated sales experience, or relevant technical/clinical experience, preferably in the medical, scientific, or healthcare industry. Minimum an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred); preferably with a science or business emphasis or equivalent experience. Technical Skills and Competencies Early adopter behaviors for rapid learning ability. Absorb and apply technical information; demonstrate skilled technical sales capabilities. Grow technical knowledge through relationships and creative solutions; enhance customer loyalty. Demonstrate expertise in veterinary terminology and science. Proven skills selling capital equipment in physician and/or veterinary clinics. Skilled at making presentations, including financial presentations, at all levels. Balance strategic and tactical business requirements. Superior understanding of current and future market trends, sales initiatives, and business-driving information. Know the competition and their value messaging. Understand how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace. Organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills. Ability to multi‑task and work independently. Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, auto insurance. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $69,000.00 – $100,000.00, depending on role, level, and location. Eligible for short‑term incentive compensation.
