Job Classification Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional (NS) Agency: Department of Health and Human Services Division: Central Regional Hospital Position Number: 60047550 Grade: NC14 Responsibilities Provide group therapy for adult patients, and children/adolescent patients as needed. Report directly to the PST Psychology/SW/Creative Arts Supervisor to ensure treatment components are clinically sound, evidence-based, and meet hospital and departmental clinical objectives and standards. Supervise social work students and/or volunteers during group treatments, ensuring direct observation of these students/volunteers. Participate in specialized activities to enhance patients’ well‑being and treatment. Function as liaison to a patient care unit, participate in treatment team planning, and complete patient enrollment in preferred groups. Salary Range $52,592 - $92,036 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred) Considerable knowledge of assessment and counseling/therapy principles and their practical application to complex casework, group-work, crisis intervention, and community issues Considerable knowledge of group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and community resources, laws, regulations, and policies governing the program Ability to establish rapport with patients, apply techniques or assess psychosocial behavior and psychological aspects of patient problems Ability to evaluate and screen patients for appropriate treatment and develop clear goal‑oriented treatment plans and document progress Basic knowledge of trauma‑informed care and psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, psychotic disorder, depression, personality disorder, substance abuse, schizoaffective disorder, and conduct disorders Conditional Requirements Trained in Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) therapeutic self‑protective techniques Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm (with flexibility) Minimum Education and Experience Master’s degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling, or a related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution. Must hold an independent license to practice as a mental health clinical practitioner in North Carolina, or have met the requirements to be licensed at the associate or provisional level.
