Support a dynamic classroom environment as an ASL paraprofessional, offering essential assistance to a kindergarten student in a temporary role. Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to foster an inclusive and supportive learning experience. This contract opportunity runs weekdays from 8:15am to 2:50pm, with built-in 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional or similar role in an educational setting
- Ability to work one-on-one with young learners, offering patience and encouragement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet classroom needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct ASL interpretation and instructional support for a kindergarten girl in a school environment
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and activities, ensuring accessibility and engagement
- Foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere while supporting the student’s individual learning goals
- Monitor student’s progress and offer feedback to instructional staff as needed
- Assist with daily classroom routines and transitions, maintaining a safe learning space
