Principal Innovation Engineer - Hybrid/Remote - Columbus

Salary: $208,000 - 228,800 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, technology architecture, and end-to-end innovation delivery.
• Hands-on experience building complete applications, including backend services, integrations, user interfaces, APIs, and workflow automation.
• Strong Google Cloud engineering background, including production deployment of applications and AI workloads.
• Production experience developing AI-enabled applications with Vertex AI and Gemini, beyond using generative AI tools only as coding assistants.
• Experience designing and building agentic or multi-agent systems using Google ADK, Agent Engine, LangGraph, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience delivering AI applications involving generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model integration, evaluation, guardrails, and production deployment.
• Strong knowledge of AI gateway, LLM gateway, or model-proxy architectures, including model routing, authentication, security, policy enforcement, and governance.
• Expert software engineering and application architecture skills, with the ability to lead complex initiatives independently from concept through delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and proactively organize work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

• Preferred: Success building reusable accelerators, including templates, libraries, reference implementations, AI patterns, and governance frameworks.
• Preferred: Experience with AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or comparable AI platforms, in addition to hands-on Google Cloud AI deployment.

• Lead the design and delivery of high-impact innovation initiatives aligned with business priorities and technology developments in financial services.
• Architect and build end-to-end prototypes, production-ready solutions, and reusable assets, including AI applications, agentic workflows, APIs, automations, and integrations.
• Turn generative AI, RAG, and agentic concepts into production-grade applications using Google Cloud technologies such as Vertex AI and Gemini.
• Develop agent-based and multi-agent solutions using frameworks such as Google ADK, Agent Engine, and LangGraph.
• Design cloud-native deployment approaches for AI applications and agent services, including CI/CD, observability, logging, monitoring, and secure configuration.
• Architect or integrate AI gateways and model-proxy layers that support routing, authentication, access controls, guardrails, policy enforcement, and usage governance.
• Establish grounding and RAG approaches using Vertex AI Search, Discovery Engine, or comparable enterprise retrieval tools.
• Define AI governance practices for token usage, model consumption, cost management, security, guardrails, evaluation, and observability.
• Build extensible solutions that provide a durable technical foundation and reduce the risk of costly redesigns.
• Create and evolve engineering standards, reference architectures, reusable templates, code quality practices, API and orchestration patterns, integration approaches, and secure AI development guidelines.
• Collaborate with technology teams on enterprise architecture, identity and access, data access, compliance, private networking, and opportunities for reuse.
• Assess emerging technologies and developer tools, including digital assets, AI-assisted development, orchestration and application frameworks, integration methods, and AI governance solutions.
• Resolve technical challenges in uncertain domains, break work into achievable increments, and guide execution through to completion.
• Mentor engineers to strengthen development speed, quality, architectural consistency, and team confidence.
• Report innovation progress, decisions, tradeoffs, and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Promote innovation and forward thinking by helping teams understand emerging possibilities and applying an art of the possible perspective.
