Registered Nurse III – Infection Prevention (Full‑Time, 1st Shift) Department of Health & Human Services – New Hampshire Hospital, 36 Clinton St., Concord, NH 03301 Position #15910 Pay: $42.97 – $66.07 per hour (Total compensation package available below) Summary: This full‑time role is assigned to work in the Medical Suite with the entire clinical staff and patient population at New Hampshire Hospital. Scope of Work: Under the overall supervision of the Infection Prevention Nursing Coordinator, you will monitor infection‑prevention practice, provide support, guidance, and consultation to nursing staff, and collaborate across departments to ensure continuity of patient care and consistent management practices. Your Experience Counts: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and vice versa. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field. OR Graduation from a recognized nursing program and possession of an Associate’s degree in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field. Experience: One year of experience as a registered nurse in a residential, nursing home, or long‑term care facility (for the bachelor’s pathway). Two years’ experience as a registered nurse in a residential, nursing home, or long‑term care facility (for the associate’s pathway). License / Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire. Current certification in CPR. Certification by the American Nurses Association (or a recognized affiliate) in psychiatric/mental health nursing, gerontological nursing, wound care, or a specialty related to long‑term nursing care. Special Requirements: Must be able to work different shifts to monitor or assist with infection‑control outbreaks. Responsibilities Maintain a therapeutic and caring environment by demonstrating and monitoring staff adherence to hospital policies and standards. Collect and report patient data for infection‑prevention practice, contribute to nursing assessment, diagnosis, plan, and evaluation of patient care, and collaborate with the Internal Medicine Department. Provide staff training and expert consultation on infection‑prevention practices; monitor and collect data from contracted employee health care providers, including immunization status, TB screening, annual flu shots, and Hepatitis B series. Schedule, track, record, and disseminate information regarding patients’ outside medical appointments and results; implement medical treatments as indicated by the Nurse Practice Act, hospital standards, and physician orders; document and report patient problems and responses to nursing interventions. Educate employees and patients on medications, treatments, and health‑care needs to promote positive outcomes; pursue ongoing professional development through coursework, seminars, and training programs. Initiate and support unit‑based and hospital‑wide nursing research activities, review medication costs against insurance formularies, assist with medication pre‑authorization, and complete Medical Eligibility Assessments for NH Medicaid Long‑Term Care Support. Act as a liaison with community, family, and staff, promoting evidence‑based nursing practices and serving as a professional role model. Additional Duties Ensure compliance with hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures, maintain competency in the Hospital‑approved Crisis Management Program and CPR techniques for all age groups, conduct quarterly on‑site reviews, and provide safety training and reinforcement. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, serve in departmental and hospital committees, and promote customer‑service values.
