IT Director, Data & AI Architecture

Abbott seeks an IT Director for Data & AI Architecture to lead enterprise data platform strategy and AI-ready ecosystem design. This senior technical leader will establish architectural standards, mentor engineering teams, and drive technology decisions across the organization's data landscape.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture reviews and chair review boards for major data, analytics, and AI initiatives
- Define reference architectures and technical standards for cloud data platforms and AI-ready ecosystems
- Architect enterprise-scale lakehouse and data product frameworks supporting multiple business domains
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to solve complex technical challenges and optimize platform performance
- Evaluate emerging AI and data technologies, translating them into practical enterprise adoption strategies
Requirements
- Extensive experience architecting enterprise-scale data platforms and cloud ecosystems
- Deep expertise with Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure data services
- Proven leadership mentoring architects, engineers, and cross-functional technical teams
- Strong knowledge of data lakehouse design, medallion architecture, and data mesh principles
- Hands-on familiarity with modern data engineering, MLOps, and generative AI technologies
- Experience establishing enterprise data governance, metadata management, and information architecture standards
