Director, Head of Molecular Discovery Technologies

AbbVie seeks a Director to lead its Molecular Discovery Technologies organization, overseeing DNA-encoded libraries, protein NMR, mass spectrometry platforms, and emerging technologies. This strategic scientific leader will define discovery capabilities, align portfolio investments, and drive innovation through integrated data and AI/ML approaches.

Responsibilities

Define and execute strategy to maximize portfolio impact through accelerated hit discovery and improved quality
Lead platform prioritization and resource allocation aligned with highest-value discovery opportunities
Drive integrated data strategies connecting experimental, screening, and computational insights using AI/ML approaches
Partner with cross-functional leaders to shape lead-discovery approaches and technology investments
Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary team while developing scientific and people leaders

Requirements

Ph.D. in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or related discipline
10+ years industry experience in lead discovery or molecular discovery technologies
Strong background in medicinal chemistry and lead discovery strategy
Demonstrated success leading scientific functions in matrixed research environments
Recognized scientific leader with external reputation through publications, presentations, or patents
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Experience with AI/ML or advanced analytics applied to discovery data preferred
