Maintenance Technician II

Job description:High School degree or GED (preferred technical degree in maintenance related area)Two years experience, prior experience in building and maintenance skillsKnowledge in the following areas; carpentry, painting, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.Job OverviewThe Maintenance Technician II performs various manual duties in maintaining and developing campus grounds, and facilities and assist higher classified technical tasks with preventative maintenance schedule and specific projects.Key Responsibilities:Completes maintenance work orders within 24 hours of request.Assists higher classified tech’s with preventative maintenance schedule and major tasks and projects per scheduled time.Conducts preventative maintenance per schedule timeline.Completes basic renovation and installation per the schedule completion date with no more than 5% defects.Comply with all safety rules with zero accidents. Perform regular maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance.Maintain HVAC systems, including HVAC/R troubleshooting and repairs.Ensure compliance with safety standards while working with high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.Provide field service support as necessary, addressing maintenance needs on-site.Collaborate with team members to enhance overall operational efficiency.Qualifications:High School degree or GED (preferred technical degree in maintenance-related area),Two years experience, prior experience in building and maintenance skillsKnowledge in facility inspections, renovations and installations.Knowledge in operation of maintenance equipment.Knowledge in maintenance schedule and projects.Knowledge of safe operation of maintenance equipment.Prefer certificate or license in building maintenance area.Dependability and Reliability.Customer Service focused and Quality of ServiceProficiency in industrial maintenance practices and techniques.Familiarity with electrical systems, including high voltage and low voltage applications.Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and CMMS software.Strong understanding of hydraulics and HVAC/R systems.Ability to read schematics and perform diagnostics using tools such as ammeters and ohmmeters.Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.Previous experience as an industrial electrician is a plus.Proficient in English for effective communication within the team.Physical Requirements:Work Environment: The Maintenance Technician I (Groundskeeper) is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining the University’s landscape to a high standard of appearance and safety.Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Mobility: Frequent: standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder level, operation of machinery and vehicles.
