Relocation package offered GENERAL SUMMARY: The DME Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory treatment, education and support to patients in their homes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Consults with and assists physicians and other clinicians with respiratory care plan for patients and facilitates the implementation of physician orders. Assesses patients and evaluates appropriateness and quality of respiratory care of individual patients for the purpose of making necessary modifications and adjustments of care plan and equipment use. Communicates changes in the respiratory care plan with other healthcare team members as appropriate. Provides effective education to patients/caregivers to ensure safe and efficacious use of home respiratory equipment Participates in orientation of new staff members. Performs home respiratory care procedures in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Maintains clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice according to the AARC. Provide excellent customer services to every customer, every time. Communicating effectively with patients, their family members, colleagues, and guests. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire. Must have an active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire. Must have or obtain an active license in each state services are provided in. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of personal liability insurance. Previous experience in home care preferred. Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. Must be able to organize, prioritize, and function in an environment with multiple stress factors. Adaptability to performing under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are vital aspects of the job. Must demonstrate the ability to exercise professional judgment in dealing with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
