HR Benefits Coordinator New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District ASC - New Albany, Indiana Job Details Job ID: 5814645 Application Deadline: July 16, 2026 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time Posted: July 2, 2026 4:00 AM UTC Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Job Title: HR Benefits Coordinator Classification: Classified Non-Exempt Pay Range: $25.37 to $28.11 per hour (Based on Education & Experience) Length: 260 days/year (This position works year-round) Location: Administrative Services Center (ASC) Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer The position is fully benefitted, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, sick, personal, and vacation days, as well as state retirement (PERF). Summary: Responsible for leading the coordination and administration of the district benefit programs, medical leaves, workers’ compensation, and providing support to employees related to their employment benefit needs. Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of human resources administrative experience Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role Preferred one (1) year experience in Benefits Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or another related field Knowledge of regulatory areas of Section 125, ACA, H.S.A, COBRA, HIPAA, Workers’ Compensation and FMLA highly desired Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and confidentially across all levels of an organization Exceptional customer service acumen for both internal and external stakeholders Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information Detail oriented and maintains accuracy with a strong sense of urgency while handling multiple tasks simultaneously Advanced skills in use of office computer technology including HRIS, Microsoft Suite and G‑Suite Responsibilities Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollment in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information Manage difficult or emotional customer situations, empathize, respond promptly to customer needs, and meet commitments Provide benefit information and guidance with new-hire onboarding/orientations Assist employees regarding benefit claim issues and plan changes Manage the distribution of benefit enrollment materials Determine eligibility of benefits for employee groups Manage the processes for Annual Open Enrollment, new hire employee enrollments, exiting employee benefits, and processing life status changes Respond to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollment, status changes and other general inquiries Process and administer leave‑of‑absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence/disabilities Analyze, track and manage the process of monthly reconciliation for all insurance vendors Work with multiple vendors to ensure that the benefit programs are managed effectively Administer benefits for employees in accordance with ACA and Section 125 requirements Process, assist and maintain files on employees for health, dental, life, long‑term disability, health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts Monitor the weekly ACA compliance reports Comply with all HIPAA requirements, reporting and serve as a resource to help education HIPAA information Maintain and track COBRA participants and notify COBRA administrator Manage the benefits administration for Board members and retirees Assist with reporting of ACA hours to ensure compliance with ACA regulations Manage 403(b) enrollments and changes Complete 403(b) paperwork for retirees or other prior employees Process, report and track workers compensation reports to the Insurance Agent Serve as a primary point of contact for employees related to workers compensation reports and medical needs Act as primary contact for the Workers Compensation Insurance Agent for communications related to claims Communicate benefits information to all employees as needed Lead and manage the district wellness program Perform other reasonable duties assigned by administration Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout employment.
