Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro & Stroke)

Location

Chesapeake, VA

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 3x12-hour shifts per week | Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical Neurology and Stroke unit
• Monitor and assess neurological and stroke patients, maintaining awareness of changes in condition
• Maintain patient ratios of approximately 1:7, delivering safe and effective nursing care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using Epic EMR
• Participate in required weekend rotations, floating assignments, and holiday coverage within the contract period

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission – no exceptions
• Epic EMR proficiency required – no exceptions
• Previous experience caring for Neurology and/or Stroke patients required
• Current BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS certifications required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Strong telemetry and EKG interpretation skills, including interval measurements, rhythm identification, and complex arrhythmia recognition
• Demonstrated ability to pass a telemetry competency assessment with a score of 80% or higher
• Comfort and flexibility with floating assignments across units
