Overview Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) is the premier intercollegiate athletics program. We support nearly 900 student-athletes across 36 intercollegiate teams and contribute to the university’s physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. DAPER is seeking an exceptional Assistant Coach, Softball to support the success of the Stanford Softball program. The assistant coach plays a key role in developing student-athletes and supporting the day-to-day operations of the program. Responsibilities include player development, technology and performance support, recruiting operations, program logistics, special events, and other strategic initiatives to meet evolving program needs. Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, this onsite fixed-term role collaborates across coaching, recruiting, player development, operations, and program administration to create an exceptional student-athlete experience and advance program competitiveness. Minimum Requirements will apply as described below under Minimum Requirements. Role entails on-site duties and active program involvement. Responsibilities Player Development: Support a broad spectrum of player development activities, including skill instruction, practice setup and teardown, on-field instruction, practice preparation, and related activities that enhance student-athlete performance. Technology & Performance Support: Coordinate and utilize technology, video, analytics, and performance support systems to assist coaching, player development, and program operations. Experience with Hudl, Trackman, SpinBall, FungoMan, game-day capture and tagging, and practice capture and tagging is desirable. Recruiting Operations: Provide operational and administrative support for recruiting activities, including prospect management, communications, maintaining recruiting databases, campus visit coordination, and recruiting logistics. Camps & Program Initiatives: Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of camps, clinics, and other program initiatives. Student-Athlete Performance Support: Coordinate and maintain team nutrition resources, oversee the student-athlete fueling station, and collaborate with campus partners. Alumnae & Community Engagement: Foster engagement with softball alumnae and support initiatives that strengthen program relationships and community; assist in planning and execution of team, alumnae, donor, recruiting, and special program events. Events & Special Projects: Assist in planning and execution of team, alumnae, donor, recruiting, and other special events supporting the Stanford Softball program. Program Operations: Coordinate and support program operations, administrative projects, and other strategic initiatives as assigned by the Head Coach. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with coaches, Athletics staff, and campus partners to support overall program success. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Stanford Softball program. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multitask. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.
