Responsibilities Interacts with co‑workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistent with Jefferson values. Demonstrates willingness to give and receive feedback and integrates appropriate changes into practice. Qualifications Specialized Diploma graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Patient‑and Family‑Centered Practice: Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner. Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. Effective Communication: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques and ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas accurately. Patient Assessment and Care: Ability to assess ailments and injuries and implement a treatment plan. Patient and Designated Care Partner Education: Knowledge of child and adult education techniques and ability to elicit learning priorities and educate on condition, treatment, medications, and recovery steps. Medication Administration and Prescription: Knowledge of medications used to treat patients and ability to administer and prescribe drugs for continuing treatment outside the hospital. Discharge Planning: Knowledge of post‑discharge needs and ability to partner with patient and family in developing a discharge plan and arranging follow‑up care. Assessment and Diagnosis: Knowledge of tools and techniques for patient assessment and nursing diagnosis, ability to analyze reasons behind symptoms and generate resolutions. Health Information Documentation: Ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results in written or electronic form. BLS – Basic Life Support. AHA – American Heart Association and RN – Licensed Registered Nurse (PA) – State of Pennsylvania. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3years of hire strongly preferred. One year previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting strongly preferred. Additional Qualifications Active RN license required in state of practice. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40–50lbs. Example: push/pull patients on bed or stretcher (requires 29lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50lbs. of the patient’s weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking; patient transporters may walk 8–10miles per shift. May be required to perform kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
