EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a closely related field. Master’s degree in human resources management and or public administration is preferred. Six (6) years of progressively responsible managerial OR director level experience in personnel administration and labor relations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Applicants who possess a valid out of state driver’s license must obtain the Florida license within ten (10) days of employment. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred, not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Management/leadership experience. Skill in supervising professional and clerical personnel. Effective communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment including computers and financial application software, including Microsoft Office professional, including Word and Excel. Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing, at a level appropriate for the position, including the development of accounting policy and procedure manuals. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and professional working relations with the City Council, City Manager, City Department Heads, City staff and the public. Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. Valid Florida Driver’s License. Experience with Microsoft Office professional, including Word and Excel.

Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech. Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time. Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading, operating motor vehicles; including color, depth perception, and field vision. Walking: Ability to move on foot for long or short distances.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Works primarily in an office setting with standard office equipment (computers, printers, calculators, etc.). Works a standard Monday-Friday schedule. Interacts with colleagues, customers, and management in a professional manner.
