Production Planner

About the Role The Production Planner is responsible for developing and executing production schedules that optimize manufacturing capacity, ensure material availability, and support on-time delivery of customer orders. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to drive efficient production while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Develop and maintain a rolling 90-day Master Production Schedule. Balance customer demand, capacity, labor, and material availability. Sequence production to maximize efficiency and on-time delivery. Create and maintain production routings and manage production orders through all stages of the manufacturing lifecycle (firm, released, and finished). Participate in daily production meetings to review schedule performance, production constraints, and recovery plans. Review MRP recommendations and monitor inventory levels to ensure material availability and minimize shortages. Coordinate with Procurement on requisitions, order deliveries, and project updates. Identify inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy and material availability. Attend daily production meetings and/or meet with Manufacturing. Coordinate engineering change notices (ECNs) and communicate drawing revisions and redlines to production personnel. Communicate production schedule changes and priorities to Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other stakeholders. Support the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process by providing production capacity, inventory, and scheduling inputs. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Required: Five or more years of production planning experience. Required: Experience in a fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment. Required: ERP/MRP experience. Required: Strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred: Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central experience. Preferred: Lean Manufacturing knowledge. Preferred: APICS/ASCM CPIM certification. Preferred: Experience in power generation, oil & gas, or heavy equipment manufacturing.
