Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work in a large, advanced manufacturing environment, supporting the production of highly specialized components used primarily in the medical device and aerospace industries. You will operate and support complex machinery, apply precision measuring techniques, and contribute to processes that directly impact technologies designed to improve and save lives. Candidates with manufacturing or trades experience and strong comfort with measuring tools and decimals will be well suited for this position.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform all floor operations and production processes in a hands-on capacity.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Backfill and support various production roles when necessary to maintain workflow and output.
• Work in conjunction with Operations to prioritize work orders and ensure production schedules are met.
• Record labor hours accurately in company software and maintain proper documentation.
• Review and approve time-off requests to avoid conflicts with production needs.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards, including line clearance, and apply 5S principles to keep the work area organized and efficient.
• Manage and follow KANBAN systems to ensure operations adhere to established procedures and inventory controls.
• Use QAD or similar systems to create scrap and efficiency reports for management review.
• Process engineering change orders (ECO) as needed to adjust operational run times, machine setups, and related parameters.
• Determine and apply appropriate work techniques to optimize quality and productivity.
• Adhere to and help enforce safety guidelines and company attendance policies.
• Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new talent as needed to support production requirements.
• Lead by example on the production floor and support the discipline process using objective evidence when addressing performance or conduct issues.
• Assist with conflict resolution on the team in a professional and constructive manner.
• Perform inspection tasks using microscopes and other tools to verify product quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to set up and operate equipment correctly.
• Use hand tools and other equipment to support machine operation, assembly, and general production tasks.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues on equipment and coordinate service or maintenance when necessary.
• Work overtime when required to meet production demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing and operational goals.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in machine operation or production within a manufacturing or trades environment.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers accurately.
• Strong comfort with working with decimals and numerical measurements in a production setting.
• Experience with general assembly, general labor, and general production tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with inspection processes, including use of microscopes for detailed quality checks.
• Familiarity with machine operation in environments such as medical assembly or cleanroom manufacturing.
• Basic mechanical and electrical understanding to assist with troubleshooting and service of equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in support of machine operating and assembly tasks.
• Capability to follow and enforce safety guidelines and attendance policies.
• Comfort with participating in discipline processes and using objective evidence to support decisions.
• Ability to manage or follow KANBAN systems and 5S methodologies in daily work.
• Willingness to work overtime when production needs arise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with medical device or medical assembly manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with cleanroom operations and standards.
• Experience using QAD or similar manufacturing software for scrap and efficiency reporting.
• Exposure to ECO (engineering change order) processes and adjusting operational run times and setups.
• Experience in troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues on production equipment.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing practices, including line clearance and 5S.
• Comfort working with technical teams in engineer-to-engineer support environments.
• Experience in environments where products are used in medical implants or aerospace applications.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large, modern manufacturing facility with over 250 people on site. You will work in a production environment surrounded by equipment and machinery, with many moving parts and ongoing operations. The facility is clean, safe, and temperature-controlled, supporting comfort and consistency throughout the workday. The organization is a global market and technology leader in nitinol, providing melting, materials, fabrication, finishing, and engineer-to-engineer support from prototyping through production. Equipment and processes are primarily focused on the medical industry, including products used as implants, as well as applications in aerospace. The environment is fast-paced, highly technical, and geared toward long-term operational stability and growth.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethel, CT.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.80/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
