General Description:The Controller oversees the strategic and day-to-day operations of the accounting department for an organization exceeding $6B in revenue with international reach. They are responsible for the development of their team both technically and professionally; ensuring a timely, accurate, and predictable monthly close process; maintaining a clean and defensible balance sheet; ensuring proper accounting treatment of all intercompany activity and allocations across domestic and global entities; partnering with financial leadership to facilitate understanding of the company's financial performance; leading the external audit process; and supporting the ongoing Oracle Fusion implementation. The position reports directly to the Director of Financial Reporting.ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees the daily activities of the accounting department with emphasis on the balance sheet, intercompany settlements, eliminations, and consolidations across domestic and international entities.Ensures proper accounting treatment of all intercompany activity and allocations by working with domestic and global subsidiaries to ensure intercompany transactions are properly supported and meet required standards including GAAP, internal controls, and tax requirements.Ensures a timely, accurate, and predictable monthly close process with no material surprises to leadership.Reviews and analyzes account and bank reconciliations with the accounting team; ensures material items are identified, escalated, and resolved.Ensures monthly close and financials conform to company policy and GAAP.Applies multi-currency knowledge including revaluation, translation, and FX risk to ensure accurate financial reporting across international entities.Supports parent company reporting requirements accurately and on time.Educates and develops accounting staff on technical and professional issues; actively invests in team growth and stability.Prepares and communicates financial information for preliminary and year-end audits and reviews.Supports the ongoing Oracle Fusion implementation and transition away from legacy processes.Partners with various departments including financial operations, tax, AP, Payroll, and OpCo partners.Advises staff on the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.Supports leadership as needed. QualificationsRequirements:Required Education and/or Experience:Accounting degree required, CPA or MBA a plus.8+ years of general ledger and financial reporting experience.4+ years of supervisory experience, including managing managers.Experience with intercompany eliminations, consolidations, and international entities.Strong technical GAAP foundation.Advanced Excel skills.Preferred Experience:Oracle Fusion or comparable enterprise ERP experience strongly preferred.Experience supporting or navigating an ERP implementation or post-implementation environment.Multi-currency experience including revaluation, translation and FX risk. Oracle Fusion or Hyperion experience a plus.Experience in a large, complex organization with parent company reporting requirements.Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:Deep understanding of financial accounting systems and how transactions flow end-to-end.Results focused with strong attention to detail.Able to organize, coordinate, direct, and lead projects and people simultaneously.Strong analytical ability with the capacity to view the business at both a detailed and big picture level.Genuine curiosity about the business - motivated to understand how a large, complex organization works.Capable of building relationships and operating credibly across all levels of the organization including Directors and senior leadership.Able to make thoughtful decisions about workload, priorities, and team structure.Capacity to learn on the fly and operate effectively through ambiguity.Effective oral and written communication skills.Compensation: $140,000–$190,000, based on experience along with up to $10K annual bonus potential.
