Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (0700-1930) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience required License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) - ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have Skills: - Documentation - Patient Assessment - Plan of Care Development - Patient Care - Nursing Process Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This role involves providing care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base and identifies own learning needs. Takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions to address learning needs. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Provides direct care of cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including postoperative day one CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients. Maintains a clean and tidy work environment. Conducts hourly rounding on patients. Proactively seeks out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
