Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Observation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Plan of Care Development - Patient Care - Nursing Process - Nursing Documentation - Patient Assessment Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients using the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and available resources. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential to assure integration of information for the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate plans of care is required. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is critical. The RN communicates directly and privately to resolve issues when necessary. Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is encouraged. The RN confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base and identifies own learning needs. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected. Department specific job functions include assessing IV sites every 4 hours. Starting new IVs according to policy is required. Maintaining documentation standards is mandatory as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits. Attending staff meetings is necessary, with a requirement of attending 5 out of 6 per year. Identifying changes in patient status and responding appropriately is crucial.
