Senior Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking a Sr. Accountant . The ideal candidate will have real estate/property management accounting experience, AppFolio experience, and property accounting expertise. The Sr. Accountant role is a onsite position. This is a direct hire position. Assist in leading day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports. Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Manage cash flow, forecast cash needs, and reconcile bank activity across multiple entities. Coordinate the annual budget process and monitor actual performance against budget. Prepare Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for commercial tenants. Perform property-level accounting for both commercial and residential real estate portfolios. Monitor lease agreements and ensure proper revenue recognition. Liaise with insurance providers, vendors, and other external business partners. Supervise or provide support to bookkeeping and administrative staff as needed. Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools to enhance operational efficiency. Assist with special accounting projects and support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management. Strong property accounting experience, including commercial and residential portfolios. Experience with AppFolio or similar property management software is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience managing multiple entities and complex accounting transactions. Knowledge of CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and revenue recognition. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments. High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information. Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, small-team environment. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems preferred.
