Regulatory Affairs Coordinator

$26.47 per hour

The Regulatory Coordinator will support corporate regulatory affairs activities by ensuring compliance with North American and European hazard communication regulations. This role is responsible for the preparation, classification, and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and associated hazard communication documentation for cosmetic and personal care products.

The ideal candidate has a strong scientific background and familiarity with chemical classification, regulatory compliance, and data management systems. This position requires collaboration across R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate and compliant product safety information.

Location: Clark, NJ

Employment Type: Temporary

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $ 26.47/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Classify raw materials and finished formulations according to Hazard Communication standards (HazCom 2024, WHMIS 2022, CLP regulations)

  • Author, review, and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) using SAP Product Compliance tools

  • Prepare SDS documents in multiple regional formats and languages as required

  • Evaluate toxicology and ecotoxicology data to support hazard classification of mixtures

  • Maintain and update internal hazard communication databases and systems

  • Ensure compliant labeling and hazard communication across research and manufacturing sites

  • Perform transportation classification reviews for DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations

  • Support compliance with dangerous goods packaging and shipping requirements

  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy of regulatory and hazard data

  • Review SDS documentation from third-party and contract manufacturers

  • Provide internal guidance on hazard communication, transportation classification, and waste regulations

  • Maintain knowledge of global chemical inventories and regulatory lists

  • Assist in development and updates of internal SDS authoring procedures

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, operations, and regulatory teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related scientific field

  • 1+ year of industry experience in a scientific or regulatory environment

  • Strong understanding of chemical safety, hazard communication, or laboratory/regulatory processes

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload effectively

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in SDS authoring or regulatory compliance

  • Experience with SAP Product Compliance / EHS systems

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of international chemical regulatory frameworks

  • French language skills (preferred but not required)
