Faculty Position: Audiology Clinic Director

The Department of Audiology at San Jos State University is pleased to announce a search for a full-time temporary faculty beginning in August 2026. This is a renewable temporary faculty position. The initial appointment will include duties as the director and teaching as assigned and depending on department and student needs. Assignment as director is determined by the appropriate administrator and may be discontinued at any time. The Audiology Clinic Director is a full-time faculty leadership position that provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for the SJSU Audiology Clinic. The position supports patient care, clinical education, community engagement, and the long-term sustainability of the clinic. This position requires a substantial on-campus presence to provide direct clinical services, oversee clinic operations, support student learning, and engage with faculty, staff, patients, and community partners. This position leads efforts to strengthen clinic infrastructure, expand patient access and clinical learning opportunities, develop operational systems, build referral networks and community partnerships, and support the growth of clinic services.

The Clinic Director reports to the Department Chair and works collaboratively with the Clinical Education Director, faculty, staff, students, university administration, and external stakeholders. Performance shall be evaluated by the Department Chair based on effectiveness in clinic operations, strategic development, patient access, clinical service, clinical education and student supervision, partnership development, and contributions to the growth and sustainability of the SJSU Audiology Clinic.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from an accredited institution and eligibility for California audiology licensure at the time of appointment.
• Minimum of five years of professional audiology experience.
• Leadership experience in clinical operations, healthcare services, program administration, or organizational development.
• Experience improving operational systems, clinical services, or strategic initiatives that resulted in measurable organizational, service, or educational outcomes.
• Experience building professional partnerships, referral networks, community collaborations, or stakeholder relationships.
• Knowledge of clinical operations, HIPAA compliance, quality assurance, clinical documentation systems, and continuous improvement practices.
• Experience establishing, expanding, or managing clinical services that increased patient access, clinic utilization, or student clinical learning opportunities.
• Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A).
• Experience in vestibular assessment and management.
• Experience developing specialty clinical programs or service lines.
• Experience with business planning, budgeting, financial management, clinical service development, or revenue-generating clinical operations.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems and clinic technology integration.
• Experience with accreditation processes and clinical compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinic Leadership and Operations: Provides leadership for clinic operations, patient access, workflow development, documentation systems, quality assurance, compliance, equipment and technology management, and continuous improvement. Develops and implements standardized operating procedures, scheduling processes, and operational systems that support efficient, sustainable clinic operations. Provides regular in-person presence to ensure effective leadership of clinic operations.
• Strategic Growth and Development: Leads clinic growth initiatives through referral network development, community partnerships, service expansion, operational planning, and increased clinic utilization. Supports development of financial infrastructure, sustainable business practices, and future revenue-generating clinical services consistent with university policies.
• Teaching, Clinical Service, and Student Supervision: Provides direct clinical services, clinical instruction, student supervision, and teaching consistent with departmental needs. Supports the development and assessment of student clinical competencies and readiness for external placements and professional practice.
• Community Engagement: Develops and maintains relationships with healthcare providers, school districts, community organizations, industry partners, referral sources, and university stakeholders to strengthen patient access and community engagement.
• Collaboration and Program Development: Collaborates with departmental leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners to support accreditation readiness, strategic planning, clinic development, and long-term program goals.
• Other Duties: Performs other duties related to clinic operations, teaching, clinical service, accreditation support, and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Department Chair.
• The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
• Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
