Position Overview

Our organization is in search of a visionary and accomplished physician-leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine within the Neurology Department. This position will report directly to the Chair of Neurology and will be responsible for providing strategic, clinical, research, and administrative guidance to enhance a nationally recognized neuromuscular program.

This role presents a unique chance to develop and expand a multidisciplinary program that combines innovative research, outstanding clinical care, and progressive education within a leading academic medical center.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at the affiliated medical school will be based on experience, training, achievements, and teaching contributions.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Excellence

• Oversee and improve the provision of high-quality, patient-focused neuromuscular care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

• Broaden clinical programs in areas such as ALS, muscular dystrophies, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, and EMG services.

• Encourage best practices, quality enhancement, and patient safety initiatives.

Research & Academic Development

• Lead and expand a comprehensive neuromuscular research portfolio, including clinical trials, translational studies, and collaborative projects.

• Recruit, mentor, and assist faculty in enhancing research output and academic progression.

• Build partnerships with other departments, affiliated institutions, and industry collaborators.

Administrative & Strategic Leadership

• Manage the division's operations, including budgeting, staffing, and program development.

• Create and implement a strategic vision that aligns with departmental and institutional goals.

• Work closely with departmental leadership and hospital administration.

Education & Mentorship

• Facilitate the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.

• Enhance and expand neuromuscular fellowship programs.

• Act as a mentor and role model for faculty and trainees.

Collaboration & Program Growth

• Establish strong interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments (e.g., rehabilitation, pulmonology, genetics, pathology).

• Identify opportunities to grow clinical and research programs.

• Participate in regional and national neuromuscular networks and initiatives.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Neurology and specialized training in Neuromuscular Medicine.

• Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts.

• Proven track record of clinical excellence and academic success.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center or similar setting.

• Strong history of research, including peer-reviewed funding and publications.

• Effective administrative and organizational abilities.

• Dedication to collaboration, mentorship, and program development.
