Sr Associate Scientist, Vaccines Upstream Bioprocess Development

Senior Associate Scientist position supporting vaccine upstream bioprocess development, focusing on microbial fermentation process design and optimization for antigen production. Requires a bachelor's degree in a life science discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree, with demonstrated expertise in fermentation systems and bioprocess development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize microbial fermentation processes for vaccine antigen production at scales up to 75 liters
• Screen and evaluate microbial strain candidates using high-throughput fermentation systems and analytical techniques
• Operate fermentation equipment including media preparation, setup, process monitoring, sampling, and product harvest
• Analyze fermentation data using HPLC and bioanalyzers, prepare summaries for leadership and cross-functional teams
• Document experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks and support mammalian cell culture activities as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemical/biochemical engineering, biotechnology, or related field plus 3+ years relevant experience, or master's degree
• Hands-on experience designing and executing microbial fermentation and/or mammalian cell culture experiments
• Proficiency operating high-throughput bioreactors and benchtop or sterilize-in-place fermentation systems
• Strong foundation in microbiology, cell physiology, and biochemical engineering principles
• Ability to compile, organize, and analyze large datasets using commercial analytics tools
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and collaborative teamwork abilities
• Competency preparing and delivering clear scientific presentations and summaries

Compensation: $68,600–$114,300 base salary; eligible for 7.5% performance bonus
